I have two kids and they are big time pokemon fans, this game is perfect from them. I don't know much about pokemon but from what my kids tell me this game has all the 493 pokemon included from the start, so they can use their favorites and the really rare ones from the very beginning. They have also included pokemon that you can only get if you live in Japan, you can't get them in normal american gameplay, so my son's friends are very envious because he has such rare pokemon.
If you want to get your children something I highly recommend getting them this game.
